One of the great inventions created during the Tang dynasty is tea. It came into china when Lu Yu lived. The purpose is they were very promoted in Buddhism and it promoted tea drinking. Lu Yu said it was for 30% thirst quenching and 70% for tasting.
Gun powder
Gun powder was created when daoists would practice alchemy which is mixing different kinds of materials together for refinery. However accidents occurred when the daoists tried to refine the powder mixture charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter. They used it for making fireworks, and then the chinese learned how to put the mixture into war material by making bombs, guns,cannons, flame throwers, and signal rockets.
Chinese Lion Dancing
Also named "Peaceful Melody" in China, lion dancing was fully developed during the Tang dynasty. There are actually two traditions. A Northern and a Southern tradition. In the Northern tradition it is said that emperor Wu ordered his captives to dance for recreation. He was pleased with the dance so he set the captives free and the tradition spread through the north. In the southern tradition Qian long was that made the order to dance in the form of lions. Both traditions are very different from one another. The Lion dancing represents the hopes and dreams of the Chinese people for all the good life holds.
